We need to take care of Planet Earth – It’s the only one we’ve got! Poppy’s Peppas is committed to growing and cultivating its peppers and producing and packaging its products in a manner that is environmentally responsible and sustainable.  A cornerstone of our sustainability plan, Poppy’s Peppas, focuses on the 4Rs (reduce, re-use, recycle, re-think) in its daily operations and long-term business plans.  By taking an eco-responsible approach to pepper production, Poppy’s Peppas aims to minimize its ecological footprint through responsible business practices.

We believe in producing our peppers as nature intended them to be enjoyed – chemical free.  Therefore, Poppy’s Peppas is committed to organic farming practices and utilizes only natural pesticides and fertilizers versus synthetic products.  These efforts, combined with internal composting activities, reduces organic waste and greenhouse gasses, and leads to healthier, nutrient-rich soil.  The goal here at Poppy’s Peppas is to produce the healthiest, most natural, chemical free peppers for our customers.  Poppy’s Peppas also realizes that the water that is used to grow their peppers in also a vital natural resource.  That’s why Poppy’s Peppas uses a state-of-the-art drip irrigation system that minimizes water waste while ensuring its peppers can still grow to their maximum potential (click here to learn how you can incorporate this drip irrigation technique in your garden or landscape).

Growing our peppers is only the first step in our process.  At Poppy’s Peppas we incorporate sustainability efforts throughout our product lifecycle – or as we like to say, “From the soil to sold.”  The packaging industry is the largest consumer of synthetic plastics and food packaging plastics account for a major portion of the plastics that are polluting our planet. Poppy’s Peppas’ efforts include minimizing the use of synthetic plastic packaging materials and relying on biodegradable packaging options such as recycled paper and compostable plastics.  Poppy’s Peppas also reduces its adverse impact on the environment by using reusable product packaging, such as glass, and encourages its customers to return empty containers for re-use by offering a 5% discount on their next purchase.

Finally, Poppy’s Peppas is always looking for new ways to be a responsible partner with the environment.  If you see something we are missing that we could be doing, stop by and let us know.  This is the only planet we’ve got and we’re not getting another one.  Click here to read more about how you, too, can garden responsibly!
